Seasoned Firewood
Seasoned wood is the traditional way to dry firewood. The wood is allowed to dry naturally, sometimes referred to as air drying. Ideally the wood should be left to dry over the four seasons of the year-hence where the term seasoned.
The longer it is allowed to season the dryer the logs, we guarantee the moisture to be below 20% and are ready to burn immediately.
Our seasoned logs for sale are a mixture of Yorkshire hardwood sourced from a responsible woodland thinning process. The species of wood logs we typically source include ash, sycamore, birch and beech. All firewood has to pass a quality control check before being dispatched.
Unseasoned wood has a strong but pleasant 'sappy' aroma, fading to a light woody smell once the log is dried. Seasoned logs are more faded and a less vibrant colour. Hit two pieces of wood together. They should make a more hollow ringing sound like a 'clunk' rather than a dull thudding sound.
